Lukas Mantel (*1982)

Following his love for jazz, carnatic and ethnic music, translating traditional rhythms onto the drumset he’s constantly evolving his own musical vocabulary. His work with following musicians allowed him to play in South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Playing piano since his childhood, he made his first steps toward performing on drums at the age of sixteen. playing a wide range of musical genres from jazz and free improvisation, to orchestral music and complexly arranged settings, he developed his own brand of drumming. He leads his own sextet and composes and arranges music for other groups. His choice of sound and texture is always a main contribution to the music he’s involved in.
